It would not break modern, tron is 1+1+1=7 Coffers and urborg is 1+1+1=3 Even with Urborg and 3 coffers that is still only 6 mana from four lands.

Finish: Regular I want to cast giant X spells like Torment of Hailfire. I flip back and forth between these being neat budget lands and stone-cold unplayable. If Omnath, ... Crucible is so good it, was worth over $70 before the reprint. Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window), Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window). Right now they are an excellent grab for any budget deck, and, frankly, most non-budget decks. Beyond these commonly played tactics are a few cards that often have other uses but can be used to stop a player from running away with the game Coffers. Some games I play these and they smooth out my early game mana. How soon, in what kind of set? Overplayed: This is just pointed at people trying to fix their mana with this.

English. Artist: What else am I supposed to talk about? Downside, the worst feeling in the world is playing these on turn two and having to discard. Its been a highly requested reprint for ages and the high price is entirely due to EDH demand. are all cards that appear in multiple decks and are becoming harder to find. I think they’re okay as another Guildgate or random tapped dual land, but I wouldn’t play them beyond that. Cabal Coffers + Deserted Temple + Rings of Brighthearth: This combo requires at least four swamps to be in play, so that you have enough mana to activate Deserted Temple and Cabal Coffers.

The reason for this is Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth. Green has all sorts of ways to make stupid amounts of mana outside of Cradle. Vesuva can make a copy of Cabal Coffers, acting a bit like Deserted Temple without its activation cost, and can keep up the swamp count with Urborg. Until you get Sakura-Tribe Scout, Explore, Sylvan Scrying, etc. Just sylvan scrying or expedition map it and your good to go imo, New comments cannot be posted and votes cannot be cast, Looks like you're using new Reddit on an old browser. This helps you get around that one weakness. Overplayed: I know some people like these a lot, but I think they are only passable, and that’s on a good day. It’s just sort of the default answer to anything involving mana.

Underplayed: Please keep these cheap, Wizards! Well, I leave you till the postantepenultimate article.

Until next week! I’ve played it in mono-green just because it’s that easy to turn on. That is always sorely lacking.

Even without Urborg, these prevent the usual recursion tactics – Grim Discovery and Petrified Field – from working because Coffers wasn’t destroyed. I don’t feel the same way about Coffers. Discussion. Monster Type:

They’re like the Tango lands but even easier to ensure that they enter untapped. The first is Expedition Map, which is a simple tutor for any land. Any green deck can Farseek for whatever is needed to help make sure these enter untapped. This is the antepenultimate article.

$50.00 View. (Hinterland Harbor: 27,300; Isolated Chapel: 25,420; Woodland Cemetery: 24,732; Sulfur Falls: 23,673; Clifftop Retreat: 21,472). Sure this land is not as good as coffers, but coffers is easily one of the best lands ever printed. Especially if the card is not green. Thoughts? The next step is to seal it away by exiling cards in the graveyard. Press question mark to learn the rest of the keyboard shortcuts.

Maybe. Coffers is in mono-black, which has loads of random tutors that can find it for you, even if you aren’t built around the card.. Pendulum Scale: In some kind of dimir control build it might be interesting enough to drive up the swamp fetching lands, the problem is that even whit urborg out you couldn't fetch coffers, and you could not fetch urborg. The last of the Blighted cycle, and basically the only one I think is worth running (okay, maybe Blighted Steppe is, as well). What’s the tier list of hand-held desserts? This card is a perfectly reasonable replacement. If you’re new to Commander you may not have played against this card, but it won’t be a long wait before you see it in action. Will they remain this way? Similarly, Scapeshift can search for Coffers and all the land enablers at once, enabling big mana on the next turn. I would love this. But Crucible isn’t limited to only decks with Scapeshift. In those decks, Woodland can be very good, but if you don’t have that synergy, just run another ramp spell.

While the mana doublers do a bit more than Cabal Coffers, owing to the two mana activation cost of Coffers, probably most important in the differences between the mana doublers and Cabal Coffers is the mana cost. I don't run a ton of non basics in GB due to all the ramp cards that want basics.

Torment (a.k.a. Plus they basically already printed their "fixed" version with [[Cabal Stronghold]] from Dominaria. Set: He is a college student in Santa Fe, New Mexico and also enjoys reading and other games of all shapes and sizes. I personally would never run it in any of my decks, but I think its a niche cars that (hopefully) fits into more decks than just mono black. This was my thoughts exactly, it's a very safe place to reprint it. Once I add the Shadow lands, The Painlands, and hopefully the new Tango Lands to a deck, these get cut pretty quickly. Maybe commanders masters will be a good chase rare and knowing the audacity of wizards even a mythic. Level:

The second pick from Zendikar is Grim Discovery. CUSTOMER SERVICE. Banking hard on this. Name: Cabal Coffers However I'm not sure what effect it might have on the format as I don't play modern.

EDIT: This isn't the official ruling but seems to be the most accepted one right now. Cradle is only truly annoying in high-power tables, whereas Coffers is a scourge at casual tables and is still very good in all but cEDH. The beauty of these cards is that if your opponent has played Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth, you could freely make use of Coffers for mana. Even if they are available, it helps to have even more tutors, so that Demonic Tutor can be used on something else, rather than another land. the one from Otaria on Dominaria.

Right? And here we have the most played budget Strip Mine! We're here to help! Just Right: Is a Belgian waffle handheld? In that type of decks? Worldly tutors were bought out and tripled in price in the months leading up to the announcement of commander collection green.

The next enablers are both from Cabal Coffers’ original set: Odyssey.

Thanks Magic articles for filling my brain with things! Both are areas which could be explored more, instead of being reprint fodder to fill in the gaps.

Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth can also be utilized, in order to count Cabal Coffers and Deserted Temple as swamps. They might reprint this for modern and since they just reprinted urborg, tomb of yawgmoth it seems like a good time to see it printed again. Just Right: Don’t feel like you have to spring for Strip Mine. Late-game, these will enter untapped most of the time; at that point, they’re basically better shocklands, Even as the prices increase, these are still good lands.

EDH Recommendations and strategy content for Magic: the Gathering Commander A comprehensive one-card solution for any deck is Karn Liberated’s second ability. I'm also on the 'this was a card I can see being printed here' from a safety standpoint. Might be useable in two color, then. Like so many other picks, it is not restricted to searching for just Cabal Coffers and its enablers, and plenty of other lands (… Maze of Ith?)

Hmm would love to see it printed from a personal standpoint since it is in a lot of my EDH decks.

Could have been better with more interesting Lands. A colorless land that doesn’t accelerate or color fix you till turn five is not good. I mean I'm not sure you need an official ruling when this is already covered by the rules of magic. There’s just no way to duplicate the effect of Coffers with the same level of efficacy. Press J to jump to the feed. Granted, I already have my two Coffers, but I'm sure it will eventually get reprinted. Part of what makes Cabal Coffers so powerful is that there is a great deal of supporting cards available to magnify its use. (Drowned Catacomb: 29,316; Dragonskull Summit: 26,583; Glacial Fortress: 25,366; Sunpetal Grove: 25,333; Rootbound Crag: 21,685). I'm going to lose my mind if cabal coffers isn't in Commander Legends. By this point, the use of Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth should be pretty clear; there are a lot of non-basic lands that need to be changed into swamps if the full advantage of Coffers is to be realized. While this seems rather somewhat boring and redundant on its face, it is very useful and flexible. Each successive swing searches out more enablers or functional replicas while increasing the amount Cabal Coffers generates, thanks to Urborg. If a gauntlet-style artifact gets destroyed, it often creates a huge loss of time because of their cost and the ease of their destruction. Quarter is free to activate and has some very niche applications where you can Quarter your own land for an advantage.

Yeah I'd be okay with there possibly being a big mana deck that isn't tron. Donwside, they can’t be played on turn one, and even late game they can be very awkward, especially if you have to pick up a tapland. In its favour, however, it is a useful land in the absence of others; it can always tap for a colourless mana, and does not come into play tapped. Over, Under, or Just Right? steamcat. Edition: However I do see an equal amount of people excited about it. I dont get the dismissive attitude in this thread. If you’re unfamiliar with it, Cabal Coffers is an uncommon land from the Odyssey set with the text of “{2}{T}: Add {B} to your mana pool for each Swamp you control.”  It was reprinted once in the Zombie Empire Planechase deck.

Card Kingdom 755.57 - 829.67 .

The last two picks are from Zendikar and will be a change of pace; they won’t be lands. Deserted Temple can untap other lands as well, like the aforementioned Maze of Ith, but by and large, this one is unremarkable unless Cabal Coffers is on the table. 2 years ago. it saw limited play in standard as it was just as hard to turn on as you can imagine. There’re a lot of reasons that Coffers bugs me and that Cradle doesn’t.

Welcome back to this thing I created, where we rank every land based on how many decks they have on EDHREC. Over, Under, or Just Right? Just Right: You know what I’m gonna say: reprint, please? I’m never gonna use this information in real life. Sensei's Divining Top Champions of Kamigawa (U) Art $49.99 (Out of stock) Bojuka Bog Worldwake (C) Land $2.49 . A new week, a new Weekly Winners.

It’s like a color explosion! Set Name: Torment

Ooh! Yeah, this card is trivial to play in any artifact deck. They both get rid of troublesome lands, (*CoughCabal Cofferscough) just fine. But I wonder if someone has inside info and has been buying these up knowing it's not in there :/, I'm really surprised that people are buying it right now, given how likely it is to be reprinted in Legends. At its very worst, this card makes Cabal Coffers and itself a swamp, which increases its ability to produce mana. Cabal Coffers is a force in the typical Commander group; at least one player will use it and accompanying tech. In blue, there is Shifting Borders and Vedalken Plotter. On paper, it still looks like a colorless land that just doesn’t do enough, but I’ve never not been happy with this card. Press question mark to learn the rest of the keyboard shortcuts. Discussion.

If you don't own Shadowborn Apostles yet, you're not going to find the 30-ish of them you need for the deck for any reasonable amount of money right now.
